Miner Strong Mining Safety Share - Heading Inspections

Heading inspections are a part of our everyday life and they should be taken seriously. I have seen where a production mentality can overlook some dangerous hazards. The key to staying safe is making sure to do your due diligence everyday even if you work the same heading or area everyday.

According to the U.S. Safety guidelines: The employer shall examine and test the roof, face, and sides of all underground headings for loose ground or other hazardous conditions before any work is done in the heading

The frequency of testing shall be determined by rock conditions and the distance from vibration sources

A program for testing all rock bolts for tightness shall also be established

The guidelines also specify that a check-in/check-out system should be in place to ensure that above-ground personnel can determine the identification of all underground personnel.

Happy Holiday and Stay Safe My Friends!!!
