The mining community, and the people I work with you.
What are some of the challenges you face regularly in your work, and how do you address them?
How to do everything as safely as possible. You always have to be on high alert and not be afraid to ask questions. As well as being confident enough to execute plans.
Are there any particular skills or qualifications that are essential for someone interested in becoming a miner?
The company I work for has many entry level positions to get you the experience you need if you have none. It’s one of the things I like about the company. Bonus skills would be any industrial experience, heavy equipment, any trades. My company also offers apprenticeships which helps a lot of people.
How has your experience in the mining industry shaped your perspective on the importance of mining in our society?
In my society, the small city I live in. It’s one of the top better paying jobs. A lot of the families here are employed by them or have family employed by them. With this economy I couldn’t survive without this better paying job.
How do you see the future of mining evolving, and what opportunities or challenges do you anticipate?
I’ve been seeing autonomous heavy equipment, and AI software, making a big splash. I anticipate to find safer ways to do jobs. I also hope it supplies more job opportunities and doesn’t take away from anyone trying to make a dollar.
